Four weeks before

  • Give written notice to your current landlord and keep a copy.
  • Book a moving truck — rates rise sharply around Dashain and Tihar.
  • Book the internet transfer or a new connection; installation can take a week.

One week before

  • Photograph the old property once emptied, for your deposit claim.
  • Note final electricity and water meter readings with the landlord present.
  • Confirm parking and lift access at the new building for moving day.

Moving day

  • Do a joint walkthrough of the new property and record existing damage in writing.
  • Collect all keys, and check gates, taps, flushes, switches and the inverter.
  • Get a signed receipt for the deposit and first month's rent.

After you move

  • Update your address for banking and delivery services.
  • Save your landlord's number and the local ward office contact.
  • Set a rent reminder — consistent on-time payments raise your rental credit score.
